I thought EXACTLY the same thing. This is Simmons’ worst piece in a long time. Even without the Ali stuff, a lot of the points he’s making about Tiger and playing well after 34 are sketchy.
simmons lost me at his frat party of a podcast
I typically like Simmons’ podcast. I’ve accepted the frat party element of sports media in general. Impossible to escape, from NFL broadcasts to AROUND THE HORN to MIKE AND MIKE
But I do think that Simmons is churning out so much stuff that more and more of it is shit. For instance, I’d prefer one decent podcast a week to 4 crappers.
yeah, but something bothers me about simmons that i dont get from m/m (i dont watch ath). he seems like that nerd kid who prayed every night that he would be cool enough to get into a frat. m/m come off as the metrosexual and the meathead to me and, for whatever reason, that bothers me less.
